We encourage faculty members to consider applying for next summer's program. Your application should include:
A project title.
Student's name and a brief description of her qualifications.
Description of the project and what you hope to accomplish
during the eight-week program.
A projected budget. Each project has a maximum budget
of $1000 that can be used for related expenses such as
materials and travel.
A statement from the student that describes what benefits she hopes to derive from the program and what she believes she can add to the project.
Applications must be submitted to the Dean of the College
no later than February 22. The Summer Research Committee
will review applications, and applicants will be notified
of a decision no later than March 21. When applying, keep
the following things in mind:
Project ideas may originate from students, faculty, or
both.
Faculty participants can work with either one or two students.
Two students may work on the same project, related projects,
or independent projects. The faculty stipend is not based
upon the number of projects or the number of student participants
and will remain at $1650.
If the nature of the project requires it, two faculty
members may work together on a project with students.
Any returning student is eligible for the program
Faculty members are expected to participate in most
of the seminars and scheduled social events and to provide
adequate supervision of the projects. Students appreciate
faculty participation, and it contributes to the success
of the program.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, or if you just require additional information, please feel free to contact any member of the SRC. You may also find it informative to talk to faculty participants from previous summers.
