Study Abroad in Japan

Randolph's exchange agreement with Tsuda College in Tokyo offers students the opportunity to study in Japan for a full year or the spring semester. Because the Japanese academic calendar begins in April, Randolph students can elect to spend the first few months of the year living with a host family, studying Japanese, and working on an Randolph independent study project. Tsuda College will annually offer a waiver of tuition and room fees plus a monthly stipend of 40,000 yen for one full-year student or two one-semester students. Students can take courses in Japanese language and Japanese studies. They also have the opportunity to select other courses taught by native speakers of English for Japanese students.

Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan
Randolph and Kansai Gaidai University of Foreign Studies in Japan have a formal intercollegiate relationship for the purpose of increasing cross-cultural experiences for students. Randolph students may attend Kansai Gaidai for either a semester or an academic year. Courses are taught in English and in Japanese. Kansai Gaidai accepts exchange participants from Randolph on its institutional recommendation. Selection is made in compliance with Kansai Gaidai’s academic standards. One year of Japanese language at the college level is recommended for this program. Participants pay Randolph College tuition, fees, and room and board.

Fukuoka Jo Gakuin College in Fukuoka, Japan
Randolph has an exchange agreement with Fukuoka Jo Gakuin College that enables one Randolph student to spend a full academic year at Fukuoka Jo Gakuin. This program is unique. Fukuoka Jo Gakuin tries to arrange a curriculum that meets specific needs of the Randolph student. Students attend classes with Japanese and Korean students. Most course work is in Japanese. Students should have the equivalent of two years of college-level Japanese to participate in this program. Students pay Randolph tuition plus costs of room and board in Japan.
