Three faculty give workshop at National Teaching Conference

Research focused on gender in the college classroom

Holly Tatum, Peggy Schimmoeller, and Beth Schwartz attended the Lilly Conference on College and University Teaching in Greensboro, NC. The theme of 2009 meeting was Millenial Learning: Teaching in the 21st Century and highlighted selecting teaching strategies, and designing and creating the conditions and experiences that will enable students to learn in the 21st century.

In their workshop "Gender Dynamics in the College Classroom: Practical Applications of a Research Study, Drs. Tatum, Schimmoeller, and Schwartz presented a 3 part workshop that reviewed the existing research on gender in the college classroom, they presented some initial findings from an on-going study, and introduced strategies faculty can use to increase overall student participation.
