LYNCHBURG, Va—The Winfree Observatory, located on the campus of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, will be open to the public between 8:00PM to 9:00PM on December 6 to explore the constellation Perseus. In the case of cloudy skies, please call the campus switchboard at 434-947-8000 one hour before the scheduled opening to check the status of the event. All viewings are free.

The Winfree Observatory, completed in 1906 and moved and enlarged in 1923, provides astronomy students with access to a pier-mounted, 14-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector. The observatory was named in honor of Major C. V. Winfree, an early benefactor of the College who provided its first telescope.
