Nearly 1000 visitors expected
9/26/2002 2:53:00 PMLYNCHBURG, Va. — Staff from the Dean of Students Office and other departments across campus are busy preparing for the College’s annual Family Weekend, scheduled to take place on October 4th through October 6th. The weekend’s schedule, which can be found in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format here, features readings, musical performances, and a wide variety of informational sessions designed for students and families alike. The highlight of Family Weekend is the Saturday evening’s Pumpkin Parade, one of the College's oldest long-standing traditions, in which sophomores present their senior sisters with lighted pumpkins. The celebration includes a lively serenade between the sophomores and seniors, and a cameo vocal performance from the President of the College. This year, as in years past, the College is anticipating nearly 1000 visitors over the three-day event.
