Randolph Staffer Honored with 2008 Mayor's Award of Excellence

LYNCHBURG – Randolph’s own Hermina Hendricks was a recipient of the 2008 Mayor’s Award of Excellence from the City of Lynchburg.

As a music instructor and director of multi-cultural services for Randolph College, Hendricks is well known on campus for her work bringing diverse, cultural opportunities to the College. The Mayor’s Award honors her for her extensive commitment to the Lynchburg area community as well.

Having served in the past with Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, Hendricks has been a particular supporter of cultural endeavors within Lynchburg. She currently volunteers with the Academy of Fine Arts and the Friends Committee of Sankofa Arts, which promotes the works of minority artists in the region. She also is president of the Lynchburg Chapter of the Links, a community service organization for minority women.

Hendricks is one of 10 individuals who received the award this year.
