LYNCHBURG – Randolph College announced Tuesday a $100,000 gift to be used immediately to enrich campus community and social life.

A committee of students from each class, along with others, will recommend the ideas that will bring new amenities and improvements to the campus.

Half of the gift will be spent during this academic year with the remainder to be spent during the 2008-2009 school year.

“We are extremely excited about this gift,” said Sarah Swager, dean of students. “The amount and scope of this gift will allow our students to be creative and really look at what will make their social lives on campus more enjoyable.”

This gift was made possible by Mary Michels Scovanner, ’77, a trustee.

“We all know how important a vibrant campus life is to the total college experience,” Scovanner said. “I am excited about the fun possibilities and look forward to the new additions to campus created by our students.”
