LYNCHBURG Ė The Maier Museum of Art's 96th Annual Exhibition includes the exhibitís first partnership with a corporate sponsor.

Publication of the 96th Annual Exhibition catalogue and educational programming related to the exhibition were made possible in part by the support of Rock-Tenn Company's Lynchburg Mill.

"This is the first time in the history of the Annual Exhibitions that we have had a corporate sponsor," said Karol Lawson, museum director. "Rock-Tenn Companyís interest in helping us present these artists to the Lynchburg community is a wonderful vote of confidence in the Museumís service to our friends and neighbors throughout the region, and we appreciate their involvement and generosity."

Rock-Tenn is one of North America's leading manufacturers of packaging products, merchandising displays and bleached and recycled paperboard. Rock-Tenn is co-owner of Seven Hills Paperboard LLC in Lynchburg. Seven Hills produces environmentally-friendly recycled paperboard used in the production of gypsum wallboard.

R-MWC opened the Annual Exhibition, titled Humorís Lines, Jan. 16. The exhibition will run through April 22.

The Annual Exhibition focuses on works on paper, specifically drawings, with the theme of humor. The guest curator, Dr. Douglas Dreishpoon, is senior curator at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, and is a nationally known expert on the medium of drawing.

"We are pleased to participate as a corporate sponsor of the Maier Museumís Annual Exhibition," said Ed Melton, general manager of Rock-Tenn's Lynchburg Mill. "As members of the local community and the paper industry, we feel it is important to support the Museumís Exhibition and its focus on works on paper."

Since the merger of Tennessee Paper Mills and Rock City Packaging in 1973, which formed Rock-Tenn, the company has focused on developing packaging and paperboard products that bring high value to its customers, employees and shareholders.

The company operates six divisions (Corrugated, Paperboard, Recycled Fiber, Folding Carton, Alliance and a joint venture with Sonoco called RTS) in three business segments (Merchandising Displays and Corrugated Packaging, Paperboard and Packaging Products).
