LYNCHBURG – The WildCat Athletic Department recently announced the appointment of three new coaches for the newly-formed men’s teams. A fourth announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
Paul Sunwall will take the helm of the men’s tennis team while Bryan Waggoner and Clay Nunley will lead the men’s soccer and basketball teams, respectively. A men’s and women’s cross country coach will be named within the next few weeks.
Beginning in the Fall of 2007, the College will add four intercollegiate sports teams for men including tennis, soccer, basketball and cross country. A women’s varsity cross country team will also be added. The team currently competes as a club team. Men will also be welcomed into the current IHSA riding program.
In 2008, the College intends to add lacrosse teams for men and women.
Also in the works is the renovation and expansion of the College’s recreational facilities. The new and upgraded facilities will include a new basketball and volleyball arena, pool and team rooms along with greatly expanded weightlifting and fitness areas. These additions follow the recent construction of new softball and soccer fields as well as a Bermuda-grass field hockey field.
