R-MWC Graduate Crowned Miss Jamaica World

LYNCHBURG — A 2006 Randolph-Macon Woman’s College graduate was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2006 on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Sara Lawrence, a biology major, earned the title at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel this weekend. Lawrence plans to take a year off to fulfill her duties as Miss Jamaica World before entering medical school. Her future plans include serving as a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.

During her "reign," Lawrence plans to spend extensive time aiding inner city youth and working through her church outreach programs. All Miss Jamaica Worlds are encouraged to abide by the motto "Beauty with a Purpose" and give of their service free of charge to various charities during their year’s reign.
