LYNCHBURG – Elizabeth Nguyen ’09, of Stockton, CA, is one of just 32 students nationwide accepted into the prestigious American Psychological Association’s Summer Science Institute (SSI). The SSI will be held at the University of Minnesota in June.

Selected students participate in a 10-day intensive program designed to immerse students in the science of psychology. The Institute gives students an opportunity to explore the intellectual, personal, and social processes of scientific inquiry and to experience cutting-edge psychological research through seminars and hands-on laboratory activities.

More than 300 sophomores and juniors apply for the 32 spots.

Students are selected based on their high school and college course selection, grade point averages, college entrance exam scores, letters of reference, and responses to short essay questions.
