LYNCHBURG – Randolph-Macon Woman’s College faculty members are encouraged to apply for two incentive grants from the Ruth Borker Fund. Applications are due to William Coulter, dean of the College, by Feb. 1.
The Ruth Borker Fund for Women’s Studies was established by Sally Schindel Cone ’54 to encourage faculty in departments across the curriculum to integrate gender-related perspectives into curriculum and to establish other initiatives that will advance an understanding of women’s studies at R-MWC.
Ruth Borker was an Associate Professor of Anthropology at R-MWC from 1987-89. She led in the development of women’s studies here and was a recognized scholar who served the College with distinction until her untimely death from cancer.
This year, the Ruth Borker Fund will provide two incentive grants of $1,000 each. Faculty members in all departments are invited to apply. Preference will be given to applications that describe plans to infuse work by or about women into existing courses or to undertake research that will advance the understanding of women’s roles and achievements within the academic community.
A faculty committee will review the applications in consultation with Dean Coulter. Please submit a brief description of your proposed project to Dean Coulter by Feb. 1, 2006.
