R-MWC will present Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal Oct. 27-31 in Thoresen Theatre.
Directed by Thomas Stevens, Machinal by Sophie Treadwell is a striking example of expressionistic theatre that enjoyed its vogue in the 1920s. The play was first produced on Broadway in 1928 (featuring Clark Gable) and depicts an unhappy woman whose marriage offers little consolation in an inhuman and mechanized society. An American classic, Machinal is provocative, experimental, and vividly theatrical.
Performances will be held Oct. 27-31. All shows are at 7:30 p.m., except the Sunday matinee, which will be held at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, $9 R-MWC for faculty and staff, and $5 for all students.
