Ada Rovatti to perform Oct. 29

LYNCHBURG, VA.—In conjunction with the special exhibition Heart of the Matter: Recent Work by Elizabeth Murray, the Maier Museum of Art, Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, is pleased to present jazz saxophonist Ada Rovatti. She will be performing Saturday, October 29, at 8 P.M.
Born in Pavia, Italy, Rovatti began studying piano at age four. In 1992 Rovatti earned a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She moved to New Yorkin 1997 and performs there with the Ada Rovatti Quartet/Quintet and the band Elephunk. In 2004 Rovatti was among 11 top female instrumentalists to be included on the CD Sax in the City, which offers an overview of contemporary jazz. Her own recent CDs include Airbop, Under the Hat, and For Rent: Ada Rovatti and the Elephunk Band. For more on Rovatti see www.adarovatti.com.
Seating for Music at the Maier is limited. Please arrive early (doors open at 7:30 P.M.) or buy tickets in advance. No one will be admitted after the performance begins at 8 P.M. Tickets for Museum members and volunteers are $8.50 and will be available at the Museum’s public reception desk during regular gallery hours beginning October 20.
