LYNCHBURG – Local poet, Mary Elisabeth Thayer, will be reading from her collections of poems at R-MWC on April 17 at 3 p.m. in the Maier Museum of Art. The reading is free and open to the public.

Thayer, known as Libby or Lib, is well-known throughout Lynchburg for her vivid poetry. Her two earlier poetry collections, Peripheral Vision and Dog in Bloom have been described as “transparent and vibrant, yet honest, deep and moving.”

Her newest collection, The Montreat Poems, include her beautifully-controlled narratives and lyrics which have a wide range of tone – from the humorous to the deeply moving.

Thayer will be moving soon to New England to live with her daughter. This may be her last reading in Lynchburg.

A reception will follow the reading.
