4/16/2002LYNCHBURG, VA.—The Randolph-Macon Woman's College Athletic Department will be hosting a special First Pitch Celebration on Saturday, April 20 to officially open the new athletic field. The event is free and open to the public.
The First Pitch Celebration will begin at noon with the presentation of the colors in honor of R-MWC campus security and the EMS and Fire Department staff of the Bedford Avenue Fire Station, followed by brief remarks by R-MWC President Kathleen Gill Bowman, along with Athletic Director Val Cushman and Dean of the College Anita Solow. Long-time College supporters Michael Thoresen and his mother, Louise, will throw out the ceremonial first pitches. The Thoresen family played a major role in the development of the new field.
Following the celebrations, the R-MWC WildCat softball team will take on Eastern Mennonite University at 1:00 P.M. There will be free concessions and giveaways throughout the game.
