Athletes named CWAA Players of the Week

Amanda Williams, Katie Stewart and Vanessa Sufrin honored.

Three WildCat athletes, Amanda Williams, Katie Stewart and Vanessa Sufrin, were recently named Players of the Week by the Collegiate Women’s Athletic Association (CWAA).

Williams, a member of the WildCat soccer team, scored the game winning goals against North Carolina Wesleyan College in the WildCat season-opener as well as against Meredith College in the first game of the Holiday Inn Select Classic Tournament. Williams has three goals and two assists on the season and was named to the Holiday Inn Select Classic All-Tournament Team

Stewart, a first-year volleyball player, had an outstanding first week for R-MWC. She broke the school record for most kills in a single match in her first outing as a WildCat. Stewart continued her solid play throughout the Methodist College Tournament. She currently has 57 kills, 26 digs, three blocks, seven aces, and a hitting percentage of .273% on the season.

Sufrin, a senior goalie on the field hockey team, was a key player and all-tournament selection for the WildCats during the Women’s College Field Hockey Tournament. She had 16 saves against the Sweet Briar College Vixens and has held her opponents to seven goals this season.
