Alumna Wins Olympic Bronze Medal

Nienke Hommes is part of Netherlands rowing team

R-MWC alumna Nienke Hommes was part of the team from the Netherlands that won the Olympic bronze medal in the women's eights rowing competition on Sunday, August 22, 2004.

Hommes, age 27 and part of the Class of 2000, attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College from the fall of 1995 through the spring of 1996. She was on the R-MWC field hockey team.

The gold medal in this event went to Romania's team, led by five-time Olympic gold medalist Elisabeta Lipa, while Team USA brought home the silver.
