LYNCHBURG, VA–Students, faculty, and staff from Randolph-Macon Woman's College will participate in a Take Back the Night March on Thursday, March 25th at 7:00 PM as part of the annual international event for awareness. The culmination of a week devoted to the prevention of violence against women, this year's Take Back The Night March will begin outside the Main Hall building of R-MWC, continue to Riverside Park, and return to the college where there will be a small reception in the Student Center. This event is free and open to the public; all those wishing to attend the march should meet in the Student Center of the College.

Take Back the Night is devoted to raising awareness about violence against women with the purpose of unifying all in becoming more aware of the issue. Its marches and rallies began in England as a protest against the fear that women encountered walking the streets at night, while the first Take Back the Night event in the United States occurred in San Francisco in 1978.
