Lourdes Cuellar, a senior from Asuncion, Paraguay, was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) swim Scholar-Athlete of the Year. WildCat Head Swim Coach Donna Hodgert was named ODAC Coach of the Year.

Under Hodgert, the WildCat swim team finished the season with a record of 10-2 and finished third in the ODAC Championship. The team broke eight individual and five relay R-MWC records this season. Thirteen of the twenty-two R-MWC swimming records were set during Hodgert's time as head coach. Hodgert is in her fourth year as head coach at R-MWC after having served as assistant coach for three years. Hodgert is a graduate of Sweet Briar College where she was an All-American swimmer in the 200 Medley Relay.

Cuellar, a Spanish major, currently has a 3.96 GPA. Cuellar finished her collegiate swim career this weekend at the ODAC/Atlantic States Championships with victories in the 50 Free and the 200 Fly. In addition to her two victories, Cuellar finished second in the 100 Fly and helped earn the WildCats a second-place victory in the 200 Free relay and a third-place finish in the 400 Free relay.

Cuellar has been a standout on the swim team for the three years. She currently holds five R-MWC individual records and is a member of four record-breaking relay teams. Cuellar received ODAC recognition earlier this season when she was named the Swimmer of the Week on January 27th.
