LYNCHBURG, Va—Pianist Lynne Mackey, winner of the Wm. C. Byrd and the Grand Rapids competitions, will be performing in Presser Recital Hall on the campus of Randolph-Macon Woman's College at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2004. The performance is free and open to the public.
Mackey, a graduate from the Juilliard School, also holds a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. She has performed in solo and chamber music in the United States and the Netherlands, and has appeared at Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Hall in New York City, the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and the Vestak Theatre in Enschede, Netherlands. She has worked with composers Samuel Adler and Joan Tower, and was the recipient of an Appalachian College Association Fellowship in 1995-96 for a one-year residency at the University of Virginia.
Ms. Mackey performs as a lecture-recitalist and currently teaches at Mary Baldwin College and Mary Washington College. Her current performances are supported, in part, by a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
