LYNCHBURG, Va.—The Theatre Department of Randolph-Macon Woman's College will present its fall production, The Robber Bridegroom, Thursday, October 30th through November 3rd in Thoresen Theatre on the third floor of the Leggett Building on the R-MWC campus. Performances will be offered at 7:30PM on October 30th, 31st, November 1st, 3rd, and 2:00PM on Sunday, November 2nd. Admission is $12 general, $9 for R-MWC faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $5 for students.

Set along the Natchez Trace two centuries ago, The Robber Bridegroom tells the tall tale of Jamie Lockhart, who disguised as the "Bandit of the Woods," woos and wins the heart of Rosamund, the daughter of a wealthy planter. With its array of characters including a wicked stepmother, thieving brothers, and a disembodied head, the show features ballads, rousing company numbers, and country dancing.

The musical, based on the novella by Eudora Welty, who attended the College briefly in the 1920s, showcases the talent of approximately a dozen women from the R-MWC community and a handful of men from the surrounding theatre community. Making a special appearance is New York-based actor Geoffrey Scheer. Scheer, brought in by the theatre department as guest artist for the production, will play the role of Jamie Lockhart. The orchestra for the production features five area musicians.
