LYNCHBURG–Randolph College will finish its 2011-2012 WildCat Theatre season with the psychological thriller, Extremities by William Mastrosimone. The performances are scheduled April 19-23 in Thoresen Theatre on Randolph’s campus.
The gripping play forces audience members to examine the issues surrounding their personal choices as both victim and attacker when survival is the key.
Visiting Director Lisa Cesnik, the founder and producing artistic director of Rose of Athens Theatre in Georgia, will make her WildCat theatre debut with the gripping play, and members of the play’s cast say audience members will be kept on their toes and should anticipate a thought-provoking evening.
The battle between survival and revenge becomes the focal point as Marjorie, played by Rebekah Baumgartner ’12, finds herself face-to-face with Raul, a stranger in her home. Raul, played by Matthew Cornpropst ’14, has been stalking and plans to kill and violate Marjorie and her two roommates. As the tables turn, the audience is forced to consider how far one should go when defending oneself, and at what moment does survival become attack?
Also featured in the play are Ashley Peisher ’15 as Terry, and Sonja Cirilo ’15 as Patricia.
Performances are April 19-23 in Thoresen Theatre on the Randolph Campus. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. except for Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff/seniors, and $5 for students. For more information, call 434-947-8562 or visit www.WildCatTheatre.com.
