Randolph Collegewill present A Midsummer Night's Dream Feb. 23-27. The newest production continues the Wildcat Theatre season with a frolicking new take on the Shakespeare’s classic.
Directed by Mace Archer, a Randolph theatre professor, the production features a fully designed Carnival float that serves as the magical forest of the play. Oberon and Titania wage their war in fairyland, while the unwitting lovers and “rude mechanicals” stumble into the crossfire. Puck plays her tricks on the interlopers, proving that “the course of true love never did run smooth.” In the end, all is remedied and the audience is treated to one of the funniest scenes in all of drama, featuring the adorable Bottom and his fellow actors.
Featured in the play are Marian van Noppen' 12 as Titania, Matt Cornpropst '14 as Oberon, Brian Yarger '15 as Lysander, Anne Morris '12 as Hermia, Erin Sudol '12 as Helena, Tory Brown '13 as Demetrius, Emily Perry '12 as Puck, and Robert Santmyer '15 as Bottom.
Performances are February 23-27 in Thoresen Theatre on the Randolph campus. All performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. except for the Sunday, which begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff/seniors, and $5 for students.
