LYNCHBURG – Alumna Amy Andrews ’08 is returning to Lynchburg Oct. 24 to perform with her folk-rock trio, Amy & Me.

Andrews and band members Casey Fox (guitar) and Alex Sia (cello) will perform at the White Hart at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open.

Andrews graduated with a music performance major with a concentration in film studies.

She met Fox at an open mic event in Baltimore this summer, and they began performing together. Sia began performing with the group in September.

“We really enjoy what we are doing, both the music we are making and one another,” Andrews said. “I feel truly blessed to be working with such talented musicians.”

The group is currently touring parts of the East Coast including Virginia, South Caroline and Georgia. Andrews couldn’t be happier.

“I have always wanted to perform,” she said, adding that she was three years old when she first heard Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings.” “I told my mother that I knew what I wanted to do with my life – I wanted to sing.”

Andrew attributes the education she received at the College for helping her make her dreams a reality. “I certainly feel that I can credit my confidence as a performer, a musician, and as a business person to my time as a student,” she said.
