LYNCHBURG — The Randolph College community and nearby residents should not be alarmed if they hear the school’s audible emergency siren Friday, July 10.

The college will activate its Emergency Siren Alert System in full mode Friday afternoon as part of an emergency preparedness drill. During quarterly tests, the college’s siren is activated in test mode, which involves short blasts of the siren. In an actual emergency (and during this drill) the siren will sound steadily for several minutes at a time. During a real emergency, members of the community are advised to seek safe shelter and await further information. More information on actions to take in a real emergency is located at:

The college’s two sirens, which can be heard several blocks away, are located centrally on campus and are used to alert the campus community of extreme emergency situations.
