Mara Amster selected for National Humanities Center Summer Institute for Literary Studies

English professor is one of only 12 scholars nationwide to attend Shakespeare seminar

Mara Amster, associate professor of English, has been accepted to the Summer Institutes in Literary Studies at the National Humanities Center (NHC).

Amster was one of only twelve scholars nationwide to be selected for the "Shakespeare in Slow Motion" seminar taught by Marjorie Garber, one of the most prominent Shakespeareans in the country.

The award includes a stipend and travel expenses to attend the seminar July 5-10, 2009 at the NHC in Triangle Park, NC.

The Summer Institute seminars are open to scholars who have received a Ph.D. within the last ten years and who teach in departments of literature or other relevant disciplines at colleges or universities in the United States. The seminars concentrate on the detailed operations of literary texts. Two seminars are offered for summer 2009, each including only twelve participants.
