Communication Students Present Research, Win at Regional Conference

Caroline English and Aster Thomas, take first and third places respectively.  


A group of Randolph College communication studies students presented original research at the Student Undergraduate Research Forum, a regional conference held at Lynchburg College on February 19, 2011.

Caroline English '11 won first place for her research on race and television as demonstrated in the Will Smith show "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air".

Aster Thomas '11 took third place for her presentation on gender and film as seen through the James Cameron epic "Avatar".

Foluke Beveridge '11 presented her research on how race is portrayed in the television show "Gilmore Girls".

Julianna Joyce '13 gave a talk on animation by First Nations peoples of Canada.
