Film and book reviews by Françoise Watts to be published in The French Review

The reviews will be published in May 2014

The French Review will publish two articles written by Randolph College French professor Françoise Watts.

One article is a review of Ne Quelque part, a film that has just been released in France (2013). Ne Quelque part is the most recent film of a now long series of films by Franco-Maghrebi filmmakers. It explores the question of identity, the relationship that the new generation has with the native country of their parents, and the society in which they now belong.

The second article is a review of Dépaysement:Voyages en France by Jean-Christophe Bailly. This book proposes to look at the metamorphoses that have taken place in French landscapes. What is recognized as "French" always comes out despite—or thanks to—vast social changes and transformations. This book celebrates the importance of diversity.

This review will appear in the May 2014 French Review.
