Chad Beck, an assistant professor of communication studies, recently published an article in the International Journal of Cultural Studies , 13.3 (May 2010): 271-289. "Azteca America's Performance of Mexicanness in the Pan-Hispanic Television Market" examines how U.S. Spanish-language network Azteca America accomplishes its Mexican cultural positioning through its annual pre-broadcast events for advertising clients. The article also interrogates the cultural and political implications of the network’s image of Mexican culture within the contexts of immigration, citizenship, and global media.
