Physics Faculty, Students Report Research at National Conference

Peter Sheldon and Tatiana Gilstrap present at American Physical Society National Meeting in Washington, DC

Physics faculty Peter Sheldon and Tatiana Gilstrap presented their research at the American Physical Society's National Meeting in Washington, DC.

In addition, three students, two senior physics major and one summer research student, presented their research at this conference. Gilstrap's presentation was "Variations of the magnetic field at CNSC, VA,” Sheldon’s was “Amusement Park Physics: Data-Collection Equipment.”

Physics major Iva Gerasimenko '10 presented on her research done with NASA this past summer, “Examination of wave band pattern feature observed in northwestern Monterey Bay airborne imagery during the 2009 SARP project.”

Physics major Cheridan Harris '10 presented on her senior research project, “Approximate Solar Temperatures from Color Indices Measured at the Winfree Observatory.”

Marja Copeland '11 presented her research done with Sheldon in the College’s Summer Research Program, “Hands-on Inquiry Science for Improving Teacher Quality and Student Achievement.”
